Spórt agus Spraoi in Scoil Naomh Bríd, Ardaghy
What a busy few years it has been in S.N. Bríd, Ardaghy with additions to the school building and ground, new staff and pupils and a complete update of our technology department. Among the awards and initiatives we have been involved in recent years are the Louth Junior Environmentalist, Discover Primary Science, BT Young Scientist, Green Flag for Water, Platinum Flag, Cooley Credit Union Quiz, Louth Young Entrepreneur, FAI 5-a-side North Leinster Champions, Blue Star Programme, Navan Education Centre Poetry awards, Active Schools, Tree & Eco Tribes & Corn Choláiste Bhríde to name but a few! Our pupils have really done us proud.
We are also very lucky to have such an active Parent’s Association and parent body who strive to make our school even better. As sport plays such a huge role in children’s lives and is a very important part of the primary P.E. curriculum we are very busy raising funds for redevelopment of a field next to our school which we hope to turn into a fantastic sports facility. Our parents & staff have been leading by example and getting their walking boots out to trek the 250km Tain March trail from Rathcroghan, Co.Roscommon to Omeath, Co.Louth. Our pupils have been busy getting ready for the big event, along with the boys and girls from S.N.Lorcán, where they marched on Monday 1st July over the mountains into Omeath village, filmed by Irish TV. We have been bowled over by the support of businesses and the wider community of Louth. For this we would like to say mile, mile buíochas. What a wonderful community event this has been, encouraging young and old to mingle and chat as they ramble through the Irish countryside. Is fearr an tsláinte ná na táinte!
